Ci sono due versioni principali del software: Greenstone2 e Greenstone3. Greenstone3 è in fase di sviluppo attivo ed è consigliato per il download. This is the distribution you want if you're going to run Greenstone3 under recent 32 bit or 64 bit Windows environment (that is, Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7/2003/2008 etc.)
This distribution includes everything you need to run Greenstone (including the Tomcat web server and a pre-built demonstration collection) and to build new Greenstone collections. You can optionally choose to install ImageMagick (for Image processing) and GhostScript (for PostScript processing).
To install, simply download the file and double-click. If the green installer splash screen doesn't appear after a few seconds, then right click on the installer executable, choose Properties, go to the General tab and at the bottom (in the Security section) look for a tickbox labelled Unblock and tick this. (See the Release Notes for more detailed installation instructions).

Greenstone-3.11-MacOS-intel-Monterey (687 MB)
This distribution is meant for Mac Intel OS versions 12.6 (Monterey) and contains some dynamically linked binaries built on MacOS 12.6.7 (Monterey, darwin kernel version 21.6.0) running on the Intel platform. It has been tested on the same MacOS (Monterey, 12.6.7). For earlier MacOS versions you can fall back on downloading the Greenstone 3.10 or earlier binaries.
This binary includes everything you need to run Greenstone (including 2 pre-built demonstration collections) and to build Greenstone collections. You can optionally choose to install ImageMagick (for Image processing) and GhostScript (for PostScript processing).
To install this distribution, download the dmg file, mount it and execute the installer bundle inside and follow the instructions. When attempting to open the Greenstone binary .dmg file, if it pops up an error warning about security, you will need to set up the Security on your Mac to allow you to run .dmg files downloaded from the internet as follows: go to your Mac's System Preferences. Under "Personal", select Security & Privacy. In the General tab, tick "Allow apps downloaded from Anywhere", then confirm that you want to "Allow From Anywhere". You'll need to be admin to do this, otherwise click on the padlock at the bottom left of the Security & Privacy tab and log in as admin. This is the distribution you want if you're going to run Greenstone2 under recent 32 bit or 64 bit Windows environment (that is, Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7/8/10 etc.)
For Windows 95/98/Me/NT, please use the
2.80 release Greenstone can no longer be installed on 16 bit Windows (that is, Windows 3.1/3.11). However collections that have been exported to CD will still run on these systems.
Using this distribution both the web library and local library are installed (click
here for a description of the differences between the "local library" and the "web library"). GLI will use the local library by default. To get GLI to use the web library, rename server.exe in the Greenstone2 directory to something else.

This distribution is meant for Mac Intel 10.11 and contains dynamically linked binaries built and tested on MacOS 10.11.6 (El Capitan) running on the Intel platform. Although untested on Mac Yosemite (10.10) and Mac Maverick (10.9), this may be first Mac 2.87 binary for you to try if you're attempting to install and use 2.87 on those MacOS versions. We've also not tested any binaries on Mac Sierra and High Sierra (10.12, 10.13), but you could try the El Capitan binary on them to see if it installs and functions properly on them.

Nightly Release Snapshots and Release Candidates
Every night, Greenstone snapshot releases are automatically generated for Windows, Linux, and Mac. The latest stable versions are made available at our snapshots page. Release candidates may also be available there in the lead up to an official release.
